Jean D. Christensen
928 Nuuanu Avenue
Honolulu, HI 96817
Jean Christensen grew up in Hawaii until high school age when her family relocated to Washington state. Always longing to return to the Islands, she seized upon the opportunity of an eight-week assignment with the Honolulu bureau of The Associated Press in 1995 after graduating from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and working as a journalist in Wisconsin, Minnesota and Washington, D.C. That assignment led to permanent news reporting positions with The Honolulu Advertiser and The AP.
Jean began her new career, in law, after graduating from the University of Hawaii’s William S. Richardson School of Law, where she served as a bankruptcy law research assistant and earned CALI Excellence for the Future (Amjur) Awards for the highest grades in Debtor/Creditor Law, Secured Transactions, Negotiable Instruments, Admiralty Law and Second-Year Seminar. She was also awarded the Hawaii Bankruptcy Law Section’s Gregory Conlan Memorial Prize for performance in the study of bankruptcy law.
Jean was an associate attorney with a commercial litigation law firm in Honolulu and clerked for two years for The Honorable Robert J. Faris, chief judge of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Hawaii. Jean currently serves as a director of the Hawaii Bankruptcy Bar Association and is a frequent speaker on consumer bankruptcy topics at Continuing Legal Education seminars and conferences.
