I began my law career in 1986, receiving my California Bar admission after graduating from University of California and Golden Gate Law School. From the beginning, I have taken great pride in advocating for the working people through my many volunteer efforts, including my professional relationship with the Senior Advocacy Center of Northern California, a free legal aid group catering to seniors, and my private law practice.
I opened my new office 2003 and now limit my practice to Bankruptcy Law, including Chapter 7 bankruptcy and Chapter 13 bankruptcy, debt counseling, and Social Security Disability cases. This allows me to devote the necessary time and resources to each client. My clients learn that I want only the best for them. If there is a way to avoid bankruptcy, I will give them the advice for free. If they have problems with contracts, credit cards, or other consumer problems, I will use every avenue I can to obtain satisfaction for them. I would like clients to come to me before they feel they need an attorney so maybe we can devise a plan for them to avoid the problem they believe is coming. And a person applying for Social Security Disability need an advocate as the Social Security system is not very friendly and their chances of obtaining benefits on their own are not as fair as it should be.
After earning degrees in Political Science and Cultural Anthropology from the University of California at Berkeley, I received my Juris Doctorate from the Golden Gate University School of Law, located in San Francisco. I received the AmJur award in criminal law and completed the Public Interest Law Consortium program (through Golden Gate and Hasting School of Law). I was admitted to the Bar for the State of California (1985), the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit (1986), the U.S. District Court, Northern District of California (1986) and the U.S. District Court, Eastern District of California (1999).
While practicing with the Senior Advocacy Center, I aided clients in the areas of debt counseling, landlord-tenant disputes, consumer protection, conservatorships, guardianships, Medical estate issues and the preparation and execution of wills.
My professional memberships include:
National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys (NACBA)
