I am a private practice attorney, consultant, and lecturer for national and local organizations.

I provide representation to adults and children in the Supreme Court, Appellate Court, criminal court, juvenile court, civil court, in administrative hearings, and in education settings. In August 2010 I argued and won before the CT Supreme Court a case that changed CT law to provide 18-21 year olds, who were wards of the state, with access to the Juvenile Court in order to obtain promised support from the Department of Children and Families. This new law opened the door to a better future for thousands of young adults.

I practice in the areas of Civil Rights, Disability, Immigration, Special Education, Expulsions, Bullying, Discrimination, Criminal Defense for persons with disabilities, Brain Injuries, Bankruptcy, and Debtors Rights.

I have provided trainings to state agencies and governments, including the CT State Legislature, as well as private organizations; and I have spoken at national conferences on issues related to special education and disabilities.

Formerly, I was a part-time Assistant Professor at the University of Connecticut’s Center for Developmental Disabilities. At the center I directed programs, developing curriculum and teaching all over the state about special education and disabilities. I also formerly worked as a Litigation Partner at a firm where I was responsible for half of the firm’s commercial litigation business. I managed cases, including appeals, for numerous Fortune 500 financial institutions. Prior to this I worked as a Public Defender, obtaining extensive trial and courtroom skills and experience, and as a Litigation Associate at a large law firm.

I have over 20 years of experience with persons with disabilities, from my prior career as a therapist in New York City to my experience advocating in front of the Supreme Court of Connecticut. I am a Pro Bono Attorney and expert disability consultant for several nonprofits. I am the President of the Northampton chapter of ZONTA international, a global organization of 31,000 executives and professionals working together to advance the status of girls and women worldwide through service and advocacy. I am also a Volunteer for World Pulse, helping to bring women a global voice using media to connect women worldwide into a powerful force for change.
