UpRight Law Joins the Chicago Cares Serve-a-thon

Posted by Content Manager on June 28th, 2016

IMG_3292On June 25, UpRight managing partner Kevin Chern and a team of UpRighters joined Chicago’s largest day of volunteering. Here’s how the event organizer, Chicago Cares, describes the event:

On this one day, volunteers will breathe new life into public spaces, elevate learning environments and foster community among seniors. This is a space where you can come together with friends to work on something great, and meet new people along the way.  We will all be breaking down barriers as well as meeting critical needs in every corner of the city.

That’s right in line with UpRight’s core values!

5,000 volunteers around the city planted trees, painted and worked to improve environments. The UpRight team worked at Earle STEM Academy, a STEM-focused public elementary school on West 62nd Street. The school serves 467 students, from pre-kindergarten through 8th grade.

In addition to doing good for the community and brightening up the students’ work space, we got an opportunity to show our artistic sides. We did a bit of painting, but primarily focused on constructing mosaics for the school. It was a great time for a great cause and we’re already looking forward to participating next year.
